stalling C230 on pull away
Please help, someone- I have a 1997 C230 Auto which runs well, is fairly economical( +- 600km's on tankful-freeway) but has one snag. It idling speed seems to be erratic- after pulling into the driveway the idling sticks/stays around 2000 revs and requires a hefty tap of the throttle which returns the idling to between 500 and 1000 rpm's. Also, at pull away, there appears to be an almighty flat spot which threatens to stall the motor- this can be quite frightening. The car has been serviced by agents regularly. ( every ten thou km's) The mileage is high 236 000 km's. Does anyone have any idea what I should be looking for?

Could be a sticking idle control/throttle valve, these can gum up as the engine breather pulls oil fumes from the camcover just before the throttle valve. Clean the butterfly valve and throat using carb cleaner or similar and lubricate all the throttle linkages.
