FYI - Installing a factory CD Changer
I purchased a 1999 C280 (great car) last October with 24,500 miles and wanted to add a factory CD Changer.
I purchased a factory MC3198 CD Changer on Ebay for $190, but it didn't come with the factory mounting bracket, so I stopped by a local, independent Mercedes garage to see if he had any for sale.
After explaining what I wanted, the owner stated that CD Changer would not work until the head unit in the dash was "reprogrammed". He could have it
reprogrammed for $100.00, but would have to charge $80 / per hour to drive the car to the audio shop.
I located a factory bracket, installed the CD Changer in 5 minutes and turned on the radio. It immediately recognized the CD Changer and stated playing the CD!
Just another attempt to rip off Mercedes owners!

I have a C230 Kompressor, got in Nov last year is a 2003 model and did not caming with a CD only tape, on audio shop they ask ~$500 to install a Cd Changer, they argue that is some optical implications and blablabla.....has anyone a cheap solution to install a cd changer?

Buy a factory CD Changer with the factory mounting bracket (Ebay - $200 - $250) and install it yourself.
I'm not sure where it mounts in your 2003, the glove compartment or the trunk?
