A/C being strange, stuck on EC

Been a browser for quite some time now, but sadly just registered now that I have a problem. Anyway For some reason my a/c stopped working, its a strange situation though, the light on the EC button won't turn off, so basically, I am only getting the fans with no a/c. Now what is interesting is in the past, and the other day, my coolant light came on, but turned right off after a few seconds, very strange. Anyway I popped the hood, took a look, and it looks as if there IS coolant in there, i mean, by no means is it at the top to the cap, but I would say there is about 3-4 inches from the liquid line to the top. Anyway, so I haven't got a clue what's up, but it's summer now, and this is the worst time for this too happen.

Suggestions anyone?

thanks

Often when it sticks in EC mode it has gone into protective mode to save the compressor due to low refrigerant.

FIXED IT!

you were right, and after doing some googling, I found a couple posts that mentioned Climate Control codes, anyway, I basically reset the system, and the EC button turned off! AC working at its best!
