Thumbs up $$ Kleemann Boost Kit? $$

Ok, so I've heard all about Kleemann and their kit, and I'm pretty much set on it. There's a local shop that deals and installs but the one thing I'm not sure on is price.

I've heard several different prices thrown around from folks who've Kleemannized their C230K's, but can some of you give me an idea of what you paid?

If possible, what you paid and how much labor + install came out to.

Thanks so much everyone! Have a great weekend!

I spoke with a Kleeman Rep. a few weeks ago and he said they are selling the Pulley Kits for $800. And with that you get a 40hp increase. I'm not sure what the install time would be, I haven't done one yet.

It all depends on the MY of your benz. I'm assuming you have the 230 Kompressor, it's just a question of it being 1999 or 2000 MY. For MY 1999, the Kleemann pulley kit is $1700. For MY 2000, it's $800. These are only Kleemann's prices as there are installation fees as well.

The 1999's are much more expensive because you have to relocate the MAS. Kleemann provides all the hardware to do this modification. You can probably relocate the MAS yourself for $30 (hardware) and some time, and buy the 2000 kit. Have you looked into the ASP Racing pulleys ($350)? Alot of SLK owners and C coupe owners on this board have gone this route and have had nothing but good things to say about it. Do a search on ASP on this site and you can see what the owners have to say about the ASP pulley.

Fossifuel,

ASP and I will soon (in one week) sell ASP pulley kit with MAS kit for $700 plus shipping. That's a $1200 in SAVING compared to other kit. Drop me an e-mail at ldnguyen1970@hotmail.com if interested.

There are several different kits as mentioned by everyone here. If you have a pre-6/2000 model year C230, the over-boost kit $1,757.00. Installation on that kit is approx. 4-5 hours, so check what the shop labor rate is and calculate accordingly. If your C230 is post-6/2000, there are two options for you. The first is a "ring" type kit, which is a larger diameter ring that bolts to your exsisting crankshaft pulley. This will yield slightly less HP, because the weight of the assembly. 222 HP and 230 lbs/ft of torque. The price for the ring kit is $599.00 Your second option is the lightweight, all-alloy kit, which is priced at $899.00. This pulley weighs 7.5 lbs. less than the stock pulley (that's a huge reduction in rotational mass), and will give you a gain of 38 HP, 30 lbs/ft of torque. Both of those kits take approx. 2-3 hours to install. Included with all kits is a larger diameter alternator pulley, the proper size belt and two KLEEMANN side badges. As a base line, here is what KLEEMANN USA charges in Colorado Springs for installation:

Pre-6/2000 kit- $350.00
Post-6/2000 kit (ring and alloy) $225.00

ASP Racing sells pulleys for all C230 & SLK230 applications for the same price, $350 (pulley only). It's an alloy pulley similar to the Kleemann for better performance. Call Lee at ASPRacing.com for more info. I've had mine on for about 5K miles and it's great, no problems, just power. To download installation instructions, check out www.benzforum.com and click How To's. It's for a C230 coupe but they main difference is airbox removal, not an issue on the C230 sedans.

On older, pre March 2000 C230K sedans, in addition to the pulley you will need a fuel pressure regulator to adjust A/F ratio, MAS relocation kit, belt. Like Linh says above, he puts it all in an easy to install kit, takes under 2 hours.
