Question my 94 c280 has a few problems

for starters it has 140k just broke it 140 today....but the thing is it runs sluggish and has a very very rough idle. i know its suppose to sit a 6k rps but sometimes jumps from 5 to 10 and at its worst the rpms drop so low the car dies which has happened alot recently. any idea on what the problem is. and its not only when i stop it revs all the time it just only dies when im idling. the thing that i dont get is that some days i have no problems at all it runs perfect.

also something weird i noticed when im accelerating my muffler is a little loud until i hit 40 mph and i goes quiet?
what is the deal with this car???
thanks -brian

Hey mate

The rough idle could be your engine mount wearing out. I had a 94 C280 which had no problems until a few years ago (I've since traded in my ol' C280 for a 2000 C240). Not too sure with the dying part though haha.

My dad's 1988 300SE had that dying problem way back, and after a lot of parts changes, it turned out to be the relay (not sure if that's what it was called lol) that was causing the dying.
