The key blade will always open the doors and trunk unless it is the wrong key.

I found that myself yesterday after removing the old leaky battery and exchanging it for a new one from the place I bought originally under a 3 year replacement program.
Once I got back to the car the key did not seem to open the trunk door. If you don't have access to the trunk through the back seat, like myself, you go, OH NO, I am stuck, but not to fret, just be patient, make sure the metalic key blade is all the way out and latched on the remote body, insert it all the way in, turn it counter clockwise about a quarter turn and voila, just push the whole cilinder in and the trunk will open.
