Criuise Control doesnt work

Hello, I searched the forum and couldnt find much on this.

My 98 c230 cruise control does not work. It did when I first got the car a few years ago, now does not engage at all.

What are the first things to check out? Fuses, wires? ect.

Thanks,
Brian

The cruise control works off the brake light switch, are there other lights on the dash area like the BAS/ASR light?? if so change the brake light switch at the top of the pedal. They are noted to be crapola.

thanks for the reply, where is that brake light switch? I looked in side on the brake pedal but there is housing there. Is that where you mean?

The brake light switch is on the steering column under the knee pad. There are 4 phillips screws attaching the panel and it slides out nd down. Look up on the steeringn shaft and you'll see the light switch. 1/4 turn and a small press in and it should pop out. Ther are pictures on the board somewhere if you look up ASR/BAS light.

Also, if there is a different dimension in the front and rear (if you have changed the tires/rims) it wont be working as expected or at all.
