upper trim
On my 94 c280 I replaced the windshield myself and everyone I called for quotes tried to sell me that piece as well for about an additional $100. On mine it came right out and was definitely reusable! Total job was $120! I just didn't trust any windshield shop to do it right so I did it myself.

I had mine done a few years ago and they re-used the trim. It looked fine.
they did however give me a crappy piece of glass that had tiny bubbles and smudges in it. They replaced it with a similar bad windshield. It has never looked right and it seems to be inside the glass.
Make sure they give you reputable glass.

I had the job done Saturday and they did a great job. Took 2hrs total from the time I got there till my "Departure" time. The adhesive had to cure for 45min before I could drive it and I also had to wait 24 hrs before washing. It appears that the prior owner of the car had 2 windshields replaced B4 this one in 2003 and one in 2006. Shop ran the vin# and got the info.
