Have you had the cooling system serviced on a regular basis using MB coolant?

Have you check for any leak in the radiator or water hose? If there's none, probably your clutch fan is bad or it might be going bad.

Since you are not giving us any specifics, it is really going to be hard for anyone to advise you. You haven't defined the temp. range we are talking about, the codes you received, etc. It could be a sticking theromastat, non-working aux. fans, or a number of other things.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and I've got the same problem with my w202. The temperature then I stuck in traffic rises to 105-108C, when the speed ups the tem-re falls to 85-90C degrees. Temp-re outside is about 25-30C. I think if I'll stuck in traffic more that 10-15 minutes the coolant fluid will be boiled.. Then car parked for 10 minutes, and then engine started the temperature is about 110-115 C, additional electric fans of AC starts their work and the temp-re fallse to ~90C

Thermostat and clutch fan are newly installed, coolant fluid is OK(about 45-50% antifreeze, level OK)

Thanks in advance.

Temp thing goes up all the way to 100 almost to the red thing.. then I just turn on the heater it goes down just a little bit. WHen I am not stuck in traffic its fine in the 80. I turn on the ac it will start going up up. It will just stay in the middle, but when Im stuck in traffic it will go all the way up; it didnt do this in the winter.

Ok, here are the few things that you need to look on, first you said all the fans are working, although it's all working. There's a possibility that your clutch fan might be going bad because that thing will keep running but not as strong as a good one. you would still feel that it's blowing air but not as strong as a new one. second would be, check for any water leak. third and last would be, there's a possibility your water pump is also going bad.

The fan clutch is something I don't know about but it is apparent I need to learn.

FWIW - this discussion about poor AC and the fan clutch came up in another forum and an MB mechanic posted this for testing the clutch:

"ok now you need to check the engine fan clutch.with car warmed up and idling and a/c on take a shop rag or towel and gently touch the inside[engine] of the fan blade and see if you can stop it.if you can it's new fan clutch time."
