Nice rims. Nice all around look. I am a total newbie on these cars. I just picked up a older 1998 c230. What size rims are these who are they made by , and... has the car been dropped if so what "kit" did you use and how is the ride?

well you can paint it black by sanding it down, priming, then painting a few layers. you can clear if you want. advantgarde grille can be purchased through the dealership, or you can get em from venders like bekkers. ebay has them too and has great fitment.
i had the advantgarde ebay replicas for a while but i went back to the oem. i took out the inner grille and painted that black while leaving the chrome alone. it actually makes it look more aggressive in my opinion.

lol
i was dying 6 months to get mine, finally found it from some guy at craigslist for 40 bucks lol. I was looking at the ones on ebay but too expensive and some of them sell ya the matte black on the inserts instead of the glossy black finish. I was thinking about painting mine black too, but then after they told me what a pain in the *** process is painting chrome, i kinda gave up on it. But an advice is just look everywhere and you can find one, ebay mainly and some other sites for car accessories or just craigslist.

Thanks guys. Im trying to see if i can find the whole grill and not just the insert. I heard from a lot of people that the insert sometimes has to be cut and doesnt line up to well. I found the whole grill on mbspecialist.com but they are overseas so im waiting to hear back from them. eundaddy what paint did you use and what primer?

EunDaddy you said you purchased yours off ebay? Did you have any problems with it? What grade sandpaper did you use? I want it to have a shiny finish so clear coat is probably the best bet.

let the primer fully dry after wetsanding the last layer of primer overnight. spray a few layers of black paint. make sure you dont over spray or else the paint will run. its better to do more of light coats. you may need to coat a couple of more times because the paint out of these aerosol cans are really thin. also, make sure u wait enough time for the paint to fully dry between coats or else it will run.
then you can clear the paint. make sure you fully cover all areas and make sure you dont over spray. it will be useful to shine a light above where you work so that you can easily see which areas have clear and which need more. after a few coats of clear, make sure it fully DRIES before you get all excited and assemble the grille to show off to your friends. patience is key.
just make sure u have nothing to do one weekend to do this. it really beats paying for an expensive advantgarde grille off ebay. gluck.

this is a W202 thread. maybe you should find your post appropriate in the other page, like the W203 perhaps?
