Strange problem, can only unlock and lock from 2 places

Hello everyone,

I have a friend with a '95 c280 with a strange problem. He can only unlock and lock his car from the trunk and passenger keyholes. Everything opens so it is not vacuum seals, correct?

What else could it be?

Thanks

-Nathan

The link rod for the driver's door lock has probably become detached, the roll pin loosens and drops out or breaks.
Open the driver's door fully and pull back the rubber door seal level with the outer handle,to reveal a hole, there is an allen screw in this hole which locates the outer lock, unscrew it and pull the lock rearwards to release.Be careful when taking the lock out as the link rod will be loose and may drop inside the door. Clean the broken or loose rollpin out of the hole and use a small splitpin as replacement. Then reassemble and smile when the locks work properly. The lock is #92 and the allen screw is #84 in the 2nd diag. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp...SGR=030&SGN=02
