C 280 Sport Trans issue...

C 280 Sport Trans issue...
Well, i dont have the car anymore, but after trading in for my current car, about 1 month or so later the dealership called me and asked if i had an extended warranty on my c class.....97 with 78000 on trade in......anyways, the lady that bought it had the transmission fail on her, and she had to replace it....is this common with the 5 spd auto in this car?
Just for my own info, but my dad has a 97 E320 and my mom has a 02 C320, so my dad wants to know if his tranny is going to go bye bye or not, less miles than mine though~!

Wow, this is the first time someone posted about the tranny on it. I have a 97 C280 Sport as well. When the car was under warranty, the transmission was replaced ENTIRELY TWICE. Yes, twice. It didn't fail, but it actually had some wierd shifting and wasn't responsive. I complained a bunch of times, and my dealer just replaced the tranny under warranty.
I don't know if you felt a hesitation when you hit the gas, but that was one of the main problems, and the shifts would be sluggish.

I'm sorry, I don't know where you can find more info about this. I remember when I first had the problems, I looked online to see if anyone else was or had my situation, but unfortunately, no one has. I've just been fortunate that my dealer actually listened to me and did the work. Albeit I just to "***** them out" for a little bit, it was good that they did it. If you're a consistent customer at our dealer, then they should have no problems about it. Talk to the service manager and see what he can do.
