the rear bumper doesn't chip as easily as compared the plastic or polymer type. my mom took at hit/bump (while stopped at red light) from a lady in a white bmw....little notch appeared. took it to the dealer, and the bodyshop guy just took a rag and polished the notch away. figerglass resin he said.
what i would do is ask for the part number from ur dealer, and how much he's selling for. (usually, mb dealers are not cheap.) take those numbers and go online or to an independent shop and see if u can find it cheaper elsewhere (online stores sometimes don't carry them, but if u call them, they may have it cheaper).
