AVANTGARDE GRILL -- INSERT or FULL ASSEMBLY?
could use a lil help clearing this up

bout to get one
with bekkers, i cut off some chrome strips to make it fit better in the slot. soem people did not cut and still made it fit. i guess it is different for every grill insert. i think i did not install 2 screws because they did not fit well. heh i kno sum1 who only used 2 screws ont he whole thing. but it works!
the oem one is alot better fits perfect! scorchie bought a oem insert that thing fits perfect.
yea im asian. im in south san jsoe area. alamaden.
lots of asians in the san jose area

im vietnamese, you?
also, would you say the only difference between replica and oem is the fitment? aside from the obvious price diff.

As far as i can tell, the OEM grill is much better built then the Bekkers one. The silver strips don't move and getting a grille from bekkers gives you a 50/50 chance of getting a w210 replica grille which you have to cut to make it fit on your w202. (I recieved one and had to cut it). I know you can send it back and ask for an exchange, kind of a hassle.
The OEM grille is a special order meaning once you order it, you have to take it. You can't even return it.

I think I'm gonna try and get the OEM insert. How expensive is it btw?
and where can I buy one, aside from the stealership.

You won't find an OEM grille from another company besides MB.
What MB actually does is cut the W210 grille for the W202. Unless you can find a company or even buy a w210 grille yourself and cut it yourself. Otherwise you'll have to buy from the dealership.
The quality between the bekkers and OEM is quite a difference.
But, I'll add in that ever Bekker's and PP grill I've ever seen had rough cut edges, took a bunch of work to get into the frame, and the metal strips came loose. Mine had none of those problems. I'm sure there are people that got theirs from Bekkers or PP had trouble-free installations as well, but in the 15 or so I've seen, it hasn't been that way.

I just ordered an OEM Avantgarde Grill Insert from Autoclass.net for 109 bucks.
I had the rep over the phone confirm the mercedes serial found on the left side of the inner grill area. Its a cut down W140 grill (Old S), not the cut down W210 (E).
I expressed alot of doubts about the proper fitting of this grill to my car, and the guy said he'd give me a special return if I didnt like it... full refund, plus the return shipping too!
Final price was 121 bucks with shipping UPS 3 day.
If anyone is trying to get on this deal, the web has it listed as 159, but if you mention the grill at 109, they'll sell it as that, just say you heard about it somewhere~

You can get those for $100 from Bekkers, Performance Products, etc.
This is what we've been talking about when we say the fit is not as good, the strips don't stay on, etc.

bekkers says they use a replica
same with performance products, but they only sell the full assembly for 199 bucks
