190e (W201) info?
There seems to be no representation on these boards for the lowly 190e. Hey, we all gotta start somewhere. If anyone here in W202-land has had any experience or can refer me somewhere better, it'd be much appreciated.
Yesterday, I was looking at a very clean '93 2.6 sportline the one w. the black and red seats. it's got 104,000 miles and has lived lives in Florida, Chicago, and now Los Angeles, where I am. CarFax seems to indicate that it was part of a fleet at one time, and it's been bought at auction at least twice. the dealer is offering it at $7900. I haven't tested it yet. I am without a car as of today and will need a reliable, inexpensive everyday car very soon. Any Thoughts on this vehicle? 190e's in general? what to look (out) for? etc. Thanks.

I have a 190E 2.3. I just talk on this board to feel good about myself. You are looking at the best year and the best engine for the 190's. I used to have the 2.6 but I ran it into the back of a Suburban. (Doh!) I don't like my 2.3 as much as I did the 2.6. They both get about the same gas mileage but the 2.6 has more horsepower. The 2.6 also comes with more standard options like power seats and what not. If you have a little more dough to spend maybe you can strike a deal like this one.

I almost bought it just so I could sell it over again. I could have made about 6 grand off of it here in Alabama.
Seriously, the 190 is a nice car but the C Class is a whole different world. If you have a little bit more to spend, I would get the C. I promise you won't regret it. Just go test drive one and see for yourself.
