17's vs. 18's on the 202 enter -->
this debate is driving me crazy! can you guys settle this issue for me once and for all....which way is best:
1. lowered with 17's
2. lowered with 18's
3. standard height with 17's
4. standard height with 18's
5. or standard height with 19's or 20's*
my car is lowered so I would like an answer for #1 or #2 but I added the standard heighht because a lot of people leave their 202's stock height.
Also, my concern is rubbage on the tires in the well and the overall life of tires. and I want the biggest wheel possible to fill up the well.
can you guys post some examples of tire life with the 2 various sizes that would be cool too?
thanks

I would go with the 1st option. Lowered on 17's. You get the looks and without sacrificing much of the original Mercedes-Benz comfort, which is very important to me. But that's just my opinion.
I'm currently on 17's and stock springs/shocks, and I love it. WHICH brings me to my question for Z06EATER:
What do you think of the H&R springs? Any change in ride comfort before and after the change? How long have you had them for, and have you experienced any sagging? Cheers!

18's fill out the wheel well, careful on tires though. 17's look a little undersized depending on how the wheel is designed (IE big silver wide face rim like monoblocks tend to look bigger than busy BBS style). I have 17's, would prob have gone 18 if I could do over. Maybe this summer.

I have 18 inch e55 mono rims with Renntech suspension. Seems to fill the wheel wells perfect. If interested I have a set of bbs three piece rims I purchased with my car and never used them. They have never even had tires mounted on them. Would of used them but 17s didnt give it the look like the 18s.

Ok, it sounds more and more like lowered on 18's is the ultimate set up for a w202 so far, but more replies are welcomed. I was leaning towards 17's/lowered but I keep hearing that people regret not getting that extra inch for an agressive and low look with 18's.

95 e320...sold the rest
I have a w124, but I also know a bit about these cars.
Put a nice drop on it with some H&R's and 18's. Don't go excessively wide with the wheels either...or else you won't have too many options once you lower it

I use 17" rim. 225/45/17. Koni sport shock absorber, and Eibach spring for years....very good handling if road condition is good. But for roads in Thailand, 15' is much more comfort.

My setup is eibach spring, front 8.5 and rear 9.5 R18 . Tire size 225/40 and 255/35. No rubbing at all even when I take my car to track for hard driving once.
But for comfort in a bumpy road, I think it's better use R17.

Im looking at getting new alloys for my W202. Must admit 19s look the best but just not sure about the ride quality and rubbing if its been lowered. So i think i will go with 18s and lowering. Plus the roads in the UK are littered with pot holes and speed humps, and 19s lowered and bad roads dont mix.
