TC drain plugs disappeared after 99 in most models that got the 722.6. Magnets did become standard sometime after 99 too I believe.

MB sells them, they sit in the corner of the pan next to the filter where the fluid is picked up.

old thread

I know but for members searching around after1998 on models with no torque converter drain 722.6 5speed you flush out all the fluid via the trans cooling line

diy for the procedure on www.benzworld.org w210 diy section
you might as well get all of it out since mb now recommends 38000 mile fluid change on the 722.6 so called lifetime fluid (not)
valvoline maxlife nag1/722.6 fluid is spec and far less than mb or febi
autohausaz.com has the gasket and filter
I have dipsticks and magnet
replace the electrical connector that is a known issue of trans and tcu failures while your'e down there

This is the one I used when I did the change. The Torx head on the converter is a PITA. But if your going to do the fluid change do it all the way. God Luck.....
Just converted the link into an Adobe PDF file in case some of you need to keep a file of this. Hope this helps.

How do you drain the fluid out of the converter?
