Are your windows not working at all? or is it only coming down partially and stopping.

one time when it was really cold outside, my windows wouldnt roll all the way down, they froze mid way.

couldnt roll them down or up. I fixed it tho by taping up/up/up/up on the window control and it eventually rolled back up, slowly but surely.

when it was warmer the next day my windows worked like normal. havent had a problem with it since.

if you are getting 0 power to your windows, perhaps the motor dead? might want to have a mechanic see whats wrong. dont take it to dealer or they charge you 90 bucks just to look at it.

check your fuse first.

Here is a way if you can tell if it is your motor or your switch. Before you do this test, don't be a dummy and check the fuse. Alright, turn your key to the accessory position. Don't start the car but turn the key enough so you can roll the windows up or down. Turn on your interior light. Try rolling down the window. If the lights dim, it is your motor, if they don't, it is your switch. When you find out which on it is let me know. There is a crazy way to fix your motor that you're not going to believe.

Man my parents mercedes' all had the same problem, windows. I guess it is like a benz thing. Considering tha fact that a 1999 S500, and the CLK 430 all had window problems I think my family is cursed. I hope my windows dont go out on my C230.

Doug,

Hook me up, man! My front Driver's side window hasn't gone down in a while! When I try to bring it down the lights do dim, so what's the crazy fix? I can hear the fuse in the trunk when I try bring it UP even though it's already up. It sounds as if it would go up if it was down... but it won't go down at all. Make sense??

Primamb: If none of your windows work I think you have a fuse problem. I doubt all four of your switches are broke so it must be something else.

Matt: This is for you buddy. First you have to take off the door panel to get to the motor. To do this, unscrew your door lock pin, unscrew the screw 10 inches below the door lock pin. There is one under the speaker and one more on the bottom of the inner door handle. I think that's it. Once you have the door panel off find the motor. It's the goldish, silver thing. Have someone hold down on the window swith in the direction you're trying to get the window to go down. Get a hammer. Beat the crap out of the motor until the window goes down. I swear this works. The motor corodes on the inside and you have to beat it loose. What have you got to lose? Believe it or not, the dealer showed me this. Good luck and happy whacking!

No. The motor will slowly start turning and then get up to speed. Just make sure someone is holding down the window switch.

Okay Doug.. I've officially beaten the Bah-Jesus out of the door as instructured.. no change.. it's still stuck.. and to remove the regulator and motor, I need to drill out some rivets.. Guess I'll take it in to the shop sometime.. it's winter now, no need to have the windows down.

If that didn't work you will probably need a new motor. It actually worked for me a number of times, on different motors, too.

Hi, I have a weird problem! I have unplugged and replugged some fuses for a checkup. Since then, my front electric windows (rears are manual) won't operate at all unless any door is open!!! The windows work perfectly when a door is open, stop on the spot you close a door.
Any suggestions? I have tried the window resetting thing and didn't work, specially that the door has to be open while doing it too. I have also changed the fuse, unplug the battery, etc.. and didn't help.
Any ideas?
