My new 95 C220 - $1300
So on Sunday I bought a C220 on a whim. It's Black on Black and very clean with 100k mi. It is a Salvage title, looks super clean, drives well, has a repainted hood and a few good scratches, not to mention a broken RF corner. I already ordered a new corner off Ebay.
I have a few concerns and I wanted some of the vets to weigh in on a few things.
- I want to put different rims on it. It came with these ugly chromes and I found some Factory 16" wheels from a 1995 S500 with Kuhmo tires. About 80 to 90% of the tread is left. Tires in great shape. Will they fit?
Look good?

- The transmission jumps in to gear a little bit, I read that the trannys are sealed forever or something, Can I get some tranny smoothing fluid for 10$ at the auto parts store and throw it in there?
- Can I clean the bay with degreaser and water, or just wipe w/o water
- I want to improve the performance a little, what can I do as it is slow off the line.
i would like a solid weekend car but dont want to spend too much. Let me know what you all think...

Foremost, don't waste your money on mods until you have the car mechically sound first. Seeing as you bought it for $1200 and the tranny jumps, that should be a slight cause for concern if you are not familiar with how most mercedes transmissions feel. The trans is not sealed forever, and the fluid should have been changed every 60k miles or so. Costs around $200 (depending on the dealer), and is usually recommended that you take it to the dealer/someone who is familiar with Mercedes specifically, factory fluid should be used.
That link for the wheels doesn't list offset/width, or tire size so fitment would be a guessing game. Get that info and post it, if you want more qualified answers as to fitment.
Don't worry about making a C220 faster, just be happy with the luxury aspects of it. You'd be wasting your cash.

The tranny doesnt really jump, it just could be smoother.

Anyone know if some OEM 97 E class rims will fit?

I ordered the corner turn signal from ebay.
I replaced it very quickly and with little problems. The headlight seems to be about a cm lower than it should be and the turning signal is mounted to that.
Looks great, works perfectly. Did some easy touch up painting where the idiot that had it before me had rubbed against some things. Took off the lame AAA sticker too.
Finally, I had the transmission serviced at a reputable local mechanic along with an oil change and a little advice on how to clean the engine bay.
Now if I can find a cheap wheel/tire set, I'd be good to go.
Took it for some nice drives up and down the coast this weekend. Handles awesome. Now I want a c43...
What do you all think I could get for it in LA, now that its all fixed up and runs amazingly?
101k mis, salvage title, No Airbags
Also, where can I get a new CD changer mag for a 95. THe ones on ebay are expensive and for 96 and newer...
