You need to look the offset of the wheels. They can fit in many ways. You can roll the fenders, you can put spacers etc.
On a 17" it shouldn't be any problem but you need to see how wide are the wheels. Are they 17" X 8.5 or 9?? There are so many questions you have to answer yourself first or you need to provide more detail info regarding the wheels.

And in addition to
the great advice above. Use a calculator like the ones on
http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp
to punch in your oe rims numbrers et width etc and the new rims and it will give you an idea of how far in or out the rims will be pushed for suspension and body clearance. So you have a good basis for trial fitment.

I don't see any fitting issue on a 17" specially if it's an OEM AMG one. I used to have 17" on my w202 and find it pretty small for the car. Upgraded it to 18" and never regretted doing so.
