97 C230 upper ball joint
I need to replace the upper ball joint (upper control arm) assembly for my 97 C230. Does anyone has a step by step instructions or diagrams?

The upper ball joint is integral with the upper control arm. It is a very straightforward job.
1) Leave the shock absorber in place - it retains the lower control arm against the spring.
2) Remove the nut from the ball joint and separate the joint from the steering knuckle (assembly torque 45 Nm). There is a special puller - P/N 124 589 03 33 00 - but a small pickle fork will probably work.
3) Remove the bolt from the inner bushing of the control arm (inside the engine compartment) (assembly torque 65 Nm). On the passenger side you might have to move the mono valve for the heating system and a relay or two.
4) Assemble in reverse order.
