1998 C280 Estate
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Can anyone help? I've just finished treating the surface rust on the inside lip of the wheel arch on all 4 wings of my 1998 C280 Estate/T (W202). Luckily it hadn't spread from the turned-under lip of the wing around the wheel arch (only visible when looking up with the wheel off). It was a lot of work to fix (strip, Kurust, primer, topcoat, laquer), but now they all look perfect. I've seen protective plastic strips on Lexus LS400 which slide over this vulnerable edge covering it completely and protect it from the stones etc which get thrown at it. Does anyone know if anyone makes them, or can I adapt some, to fit a W202? I've had this car from new (1998) and don't want to have to go through this again (the rest of the body is rust-free). Thanks!

Does no-one suffer from rust on the wheel arch rims here..?!!! I can't believe mine is the only W202 with this problem? Or do you all sell yours long before rust is an issue?
Anyway, I found some protective plastic strips (E-Tech Wheel Arch Protector, £8.60 each from needforspeed.co.uk) to cover the front wheel arch inner lips (the rears are folded over against the wing, so nothing can be attached, so I'll just put dinitrol or similar on them). I'll coat the lips, top and bottom with dinitrol, and then slip on the guards, then coat the top edge (invisible, but that's where the water collects) with more dinitrol. That should protect them from stones/grit/salt etc while not trapping moisture, don't you agree?
