Air Conditioning Issues

Air Conditioning Issues
My AC had a leak and wasn't working so I took it to a shop, about a year ago. $500 later they had recharged the r134, cleared some computer codes, and replaced the evap temp sensor. Now, it's not working again. Today I got a valve and found that the pressure in the system was zero, so I added a can of stopleak and a can of r134a, and now the pressure is at 35psi. I also cleared the DTC codes out of the climate control unit.
But it's still blowing hot air! Now I have a couple of questions: is 35psi enough? Is there anything else I have to reset before it starts cooling? How bad on a scale of 1-10 would it be if I got some of the r134 liquid into the system? And finally, I've assumed that the low side valve was the most visible valve, in front and to the left of the washer fluid and just below the intake minifold. So where is the high side?

I had the same issue on the 1998 C280. Simply charging the freon won't automatically restart the AC. After recharging w/ freon, you will need to use the reset and delete features in the climate control panel to reset the AC system. I don't remember the exact procedure, I found the procedure in this forum by doing a search. Since you had the leak fixed one year ago, you should take it back to the indy shop and ask them to fix it for free -- it's probably they didn't do a good job fixing the leak.

had similar issues with mine.
took out the evaporator, leak tested it and found out the expansion valve had a leak. replaced it with a new one and recharged the refrigerant. i wasn't aware that you'd still need to reset the thing from the computer. mine didn't encounter any hitch or fault when i did my repair.
till next.

Hi guys. I have an air conditioner (ac) problem but not just the others above. My ac is working correctly but no air comes from the central air vent when ac is on. When ac is on only the side vents work, while when I turn the ac off all the three vents work correctly. I have a w202(c 250 diesel). I think its a vacuum leak but don't know where to search exactly.
Any idea.

hot air
my 99c280 sport sometimes goes warm.......not the most enviromently way to do it but what i have done is release all the freon using the inlet valve stem till all the freon is out and the compreser auto kicks off.......i then add new freon till the compresser kicks back on and for some strange reason i am cold for another year or so........weird but it always works

Yes, ideally you want to begin cleanly with no air or anything in the a/c system. Now, when I measured my pressure on the low pressure side, it read 0. I began to add the r-143a (1,1,1,2-tetraflouroethane) by holding the can somewhat upsidedown. Ideally, you don't want to do this, but I think that had something to do with my compressor just turning back on with no problem.
I'm going to be measuring my static pressure weekly after it has been driven and see how those readings match to each one prior. That will give me a quick sense of a leak or not. Also, my car goes to the stealership in a month for its annual inspection so they will figure out things if i don't...and charge me a lot too Sometimes, you need to pay the devil to keep your friend running nicely.
These are magnificent cars and if you put the time, energy, love and money into them, you end up with a car that you can be proud of, one that you know that you can count on to keep you safe, never leave you stranded somewhere, or to just blow the other cars away :P
