AC acting up

I have a 2000 c280 just flipped 100k. I am experiencing strange phenomena. On acceleration my AC blower is acting up. If the blower fan is on full blast, or any level, during the acceleration it will slow down on its own and when the engine speed reaches steady rpm it comes back to preset level. Has anybody experienced the similar issue? I heard that it could be a vacuum leak. Help, it is annoying.

Yeah, mercedes are very big into using vacuum actuation for everything. That is a possibility. However, do any other electronically controlled items act oddly upon acceleration? What about something as simple as your cabin air filter: is that clean? Is this problem consistent and always occurring under the same conditions? Think about things that you can rule out and go from there.

AcousticplayerJ, I think you might have a great point. I have actually taken the charcoal filter out, it needs to be replaced. I will put the new one in and hopefully my problems will be gone.
Thanks

It does sound like a vacuum line issue. As mentioned there are MANY in our cars, so best to do a quick visual check and failing that let a qualified indie check it out. Did you happen to do an oil filter change lately or remove the panel on the lower section on passenger side? There are vacuum lines in both places that can be displaced. A word of warning from recent personal experience, don't move them around as they are probably brittle from age, just look and see if they are loose or cracked without much manipulation. I broke one during an inspection and am now waiting for mine to arrive in the mail.

check your charging system/battery/grounds ..... full speed on the fan is battery voltage and when you go to full throttle the ME drops the charging voltage to keep drag off of the engine. Could be the regulator too....
