That is a lie, it may be a C280 at most of a C36 (?) but yeah, C220 are only 4 Cylinders, i have my C230 Kompressor and it's 4 cylinders. I say go C230, but then that's just me and one to their own taste in cars. Hope you find what you looking for.

C220 Questions

Thanks for the response. Thats what i figured but ive had 2 people already post up ads for C220s and tell me its a 6 cylinder. They either don't know or got the wrong model. I am looking for the c220 basically for the MPG. I do a lot of driving and that would be the most helpful. Does the c230 do fairly well on mileage compared to the c220. Im pretty sure the kompressor model does the least MPG of the set.

thanks again for the advice.

I am looking for the c220 basically for the MPG and for a daily driver. I do a lot of driving and that would be the most helpful. Does the c230 do fairly well on mileage compared to the c220. Im pretty sure the kompressor model does the least MPG of the set. I have an e46 M3 which i use for driving fast.

thanks again for the advice.

If I were you, I'd get the C230 or the C230 Kompressor instead of the C220. Comparing the engines, both are straight 4-cylinder. The C 220 has (2.2 L, 150 PS (110 kW; 148 hp) while the C230 Kompressor has (2.3 L, 195 PS (143 kW; 192 hp). The C220 is a little slow when it comes to acceleration and you will be needing much torque when you enter the freeways as compared to the C230 Kompressors.

When you buy a W202, get the models from the years 1998 to 2000 as these production units have already been corrected. Also, they have been "facelifted" to include front & rear spoilers (airdams) and side skirts.

To Tony_AMG, nice bumpers man! Are they OEM? Where did you buy them from? Maybe we could meet up?

Tony_AMG, do you have a body shop? Maybe I could drop by sometime and talk about bumper conversions too? Did you replace also the fronts with OEM AMG bumpers with Fogs?

thanks. i am considering it. I do like the upgraded bumpers and side skirts. how is the 1998 c230 compared to the 1996 c220. they have the same horse power correct at 148 but just a bit more torque? I may just consider the kompressor as well. Ive read about transmission issues though for the 97-99 models and do not want to buy something that will break down soon enough. thanks again everyone for the advice

to cdea, go kompressor man, it's more hp and torque but its worth it. if you really get one, get one with less than 100,000 miles and 1999 or 2000. make sure its been taken care of, ie: oil changes, filters services the usual stuff. also make sure that the car hasn't been in an accident. But i say C230 are fuel efficient and fun to drive. Its not so hard to take care of, my car is about to hit the 100,000 mile mark, I'm at 99,883 so I got to do
trans service, oil change again. Change the control arm bushings and bearings, check the hoses stuff like that and do alignment since the potholes here in Los Angeles hurt the suspension pretty bad. yeah, my car is a Elegance / Luxury package so it is not a sport, but I sure as hell drive like it is so i'm going to change the 4 shocks later to the Bilstein brand.

to Jovsky

Yeah dude i work in one, it's a Mercedes-Benz Certified Repair and Collision Facility

heres what happend to me when someone back into me back in may: http://img512.imageshack.us/g/cimg0082v.jpg/

And no my front bumper is on hold $$$$ wise gotta save for it. I do have the foglamps and the Center AMG Spoiler. And still gotta get the LT Rocker molding "flare" and RT Rocker molding "flare". They are pricey, about $700 retail each. But i am getting there cause i already have the OEM C43 Exhaust

To cdea: Maintenance on a Kompressor is not that expensive. I just had my Kompressor the following: change transmission filter kit and fluid, change 4 spark plugs, change air filter, change oil and oil filter, change fuel filter and 2 fan belts. I paid around $350. total for parts and labor.

To Tony_AMG: Cool man!!! In the future, your car will look like an AMG. Do you own the shop or you just work there? Hey, I'm just around 15-30 minutes away from you (Sawtelle) depending on traffic. I work at San Vicente, Brentwood. Maybe we should do a meet-up one of these days! What year is your Kompressor? We've got the same color - Brillant Silver #744!!! In the future, let's have a "Twins" set-up, shall we? LOL!!!
