'97 C230 Serpentine Belt Idler Pulley
Anyone know how to get the serpentine belt idler pulley off? My tensioner is bouncing up and down and I think the bearing in the idler is to blame. Can't figure out if the bolt holding it on is on the front of back of the bracket, though. Thanks.

Pry the black plastic disk off the front and then try to access the recessed nut. That is what will release it from the idler.
If you have the little shock absorber attached, that is probably shot too. Also, the bushings at the attachment points for the shock are often worn or missing at this age.

The front has a male torqx fitting that you use to move the idler when you replace the belt. There isn't a plastic cover. Can that wind off or is the bolt on the other side of the bearing, facing the block?
