I have a 97 C230 Need help finding my fuel filter.
The Info:
1997 C230 Sedan
Problem: Car starts then stalls during cold starts.
I suspect that it is maybe a clogged fuel filter. Where can I find it at? Maybe someone has a picture?
If you have any other suggestions of where to start please feel free to help. The car is in another state that a relative is borrowing so I don't know where they can take it. But I am looking to guide them and help them fix this over the phone.
Thanks

You need to have on the car on a lift for SAFETY reasons most above all reasons, not on a couple of jacks. second it's kinda of easy to work on if you familiar to maintaining you vehicle, so I would highly recommend you going to a MB tech [who does work on the side] or a shop who has tools to drain the fuel and re-inject the fuel. Remember Fuel = Fire flammable. So think smart.

The fuel filter is located under the passenger rear of the vehicle. There is a plastic cover covering both the fuel pump and the fuel filter that will need to be removed first.
A lift is the easiest way to change this filter, but I have done this safely with jack stands in the past.
With the fuel filter in hand, it will be obvious how to change (loosen clamps on rubber hose, remove filter, install new filter, tighten clamps). Just be certain to match the flow direction marked on the filter body with the previous filter to ensure proper flow.
As stated in a previous post, be careful with flammable liquids (i.e. gasoline) and capture them is a suitable container (I use my oil drain pan).
