C220 cdi engine cut out
After driving approx 150 miles I was slowing down approaching roadworks and my engine cut out, and would subsequently not restart, engine would fire up and then cut out straight away.
RAC came out and the guy hit the fuel tank and the engine would just about run.
Said that it was prob fuel pump, is the pump in the tank?
Read on other posts that could be fuel filter or HP fuel pump.
Any thoughts would be great.

Have you checked the injectors? (Remove the engine cover and check whether there is any unusual grime around the injectors.)
I had a fuel pump failure on a 220 CDI W202 but different symptoms. The car would loose all power when accelerating vigorously (e.g. merging onto the Autobahn). Car would restart without issue though.
