dont make me break out my paint skills

merclover, look in your mercedes owner booklet.
look near the first few pages where it shows you
what the indicator lights on your dash mean. it should
look like an amber indicator with "check engine" text on it.

im pretty sure you have a check engine light, you just never seen it come on before.

one way to tell if something is wrong after you install a new airfilter in is if you drop in rpms suddenly. its described in the manual as "limp mode".

i have 6k+ miles since my k&n and ive only noticed better throttle response from the original filter i had. dont believe those 5hp claims on the box, its more like 1hp increase. still nice for only 40 bucks.

you can check if you have service light if you turn your car on without the engine, their should be alot of symbols in cluster. YOu have to have one.

Check Engine Light

Check on your E Class display to see wha the check engine light looks light, and look for the location of it on your C Class. Also, take of the gas cap and drive your car a few feet. The check engine light will go on.

Hope this helps.

this is very strange
i dont have it!! if i open the gas tap, the car wont start. its a safety device which does not let u start the car if the gas tap is open. i really dont have it. but anyways if it had it (which id doesnt) it should say it in german right? cos my car was bought in germany and every label in it is in german!

took this pic for you, merclover

its located on the bottom right corner of your dash, its not on that row of indicators near your mileage counter, but further to the right.

i had my key in the preignition slot so all my led's were lit up, my car is not suffering from electrical failures or anything~

WHOAH!!!!!! IT EVEN SAYS "CHECK ENGINE"
this is SOOO WIERD! it even says BRAKE instead of having a symbol like mine.
i guess its cos my car si a european 96'er and in 1998 they decided to introduce the check engine light. it really weird cos i've been in more then one 202 and i've never seen such a thing. even with the ignition on (without the engine on). thanks a lot for taking the pic.
just like kurumaGOD said..i guess i won't notice when the o2 sensor has popped until the engine dies!! LOL

Maybe the bulb blew after you had the Kleemann turbo (or was it super) charger installed.

Euro models don't have check engine light, it's a US CARB thing, and only introduced in EU after the EURO 4 Gas norm, where the cars have o2 censors after the cat, like US have had for years.

So it's not a mystery.

THANK YOU LUCAS i was waiting for an answer like that. MB's in the US are far better equipped than MB's in europe! the only advantage we have is the headlights, but nothin else!!
-Digital climate control
-check engine light

so... hehe... got a "new" question. lucas maybe u know how to reply it. when do i notice when my MAS sensor dies or when there is somethin wrong with da engine that cant be seen with the naked eye?
