Help! - Car shuts off and sometimes won't start

Hoping someone can help me. Having a problem with my 2000 C230 Sport. Sometimes the car does not want to start. I need to jiggle the key in the iginition, take the key out an retry and sometimes jiggle the shift knob. It goes to the first position (radio turns on) but at the second position none of the lights come and it won't even turn over. I need to do as described above. It almost feels as if the car thinks its in drive and does not want to start.

Few weeks ago, driving along at 60kph and the car totally died on me. It coasted to a stop and it would not start. After jiggling things, it started. Then early this week sitting at a light and again, the car just died on me.

Does anyone know whats going on or had similar problems. Any help would be appreciated.

02 sport coupe. Currently not running :(
Coil packs

Tty new coil packs and spark plugs. My c 230 ( 02 0 would shutter whenever u had to get in the gas and that helped tremendously. Also i't might be the starter motor. Put it in neutral ( With the clutch in if it's stick ) and shake it back it and forth while you're in your seat. Sounds strange but I tarted my 91 accord like that al the way through HS.

hi i am having the same problem. i recently had to replace the starter, and the ground wire from the solenoid goes to a bolt located under the driverside floor board and goes through the floorboard and under the gas pedal. on my car the bolt where the groundwire connects is loose/stripped and whenever i loose power i have to reach und and jiggle/wiggle that bolt and all power is restored. and its happening more often. i dont know the name of this part or how to replace it (myself ..yet) you might try that.....good luck
