W202 Engine Swap???

Does anyone know what motors will fit into a W202 chassis? What is the biggest motor that will fit? The C55 is the same motor that is in the E55 right? will those two fit? and will a '99 S500 motor fit? If anyone can tell me which engines and from what models and years will fit into the W202, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Post Too much

YOur way over... An engine swap isn't that simple. There are many mechanical others to change such as the drive shaft etc. AMG in Affalterbach, Germany would'nt even put a V8 in my car. And only if you had a C43 (w202) would AMG modify it to be a 5.5 V8 like that of the C55 for 25,000 Euros! There is no engine modification package from AMG for V6's sadly.

I saw somewhere that someone makes a V-12 conversion kit for the W202. It costs 40,000 dollars.

Question V-12 W202!

Doug, if you could let me know where you got that information from, let me and the thread starter know. I am sure we would like to know more about this beast sized C-class. :v

All right I'll check around and see if I can find it again. I almost want to say it was Renntech.

didn't someone fit a v8 or v10 into an slk? forgot who it was...maybe renntech... but it was so big i doubt the car's crashworthy anymore...u'd get a big fat engine in ur face... still, with $, anything is possible... isn't it easier to bolt on a supercharger for the 6-cylinder engines?

and abouth the v10, i think you are right. now that you mentioned Renntech i remember seeing a magazine like 4 years ago. it was some kind of money wasting rig though.

I drive what I drive
upgrade, dont swap.
i remeber this guy on acura-cl.com swapped his 3.2 cl engine for a 3.5 MDX. I think he spent too much money for the results he got. i guarentee he still wasnt the fastest cl out there...

Nope, they started the C280 V6 in 1998. The inline 6 ran from 1994-1997.

Go for the skyline gtr engine (RB26DETT) if you want TRUE power The engine is capable of +1300hp with aftermarket turbo! That was just one of my wild ideas...european look wit ricy heart...might be a joke...but could be a blast! If i have some extra cash and time i'd do it! Btw...there is one on sale now on ebay...go check it out!!! to the skyline

Trying an engine swap would be horrendously expensive and pretty much render your car worthless.

A much better idea is to sell your W202 four or six car and buy a used C43 V-8 car. Then, install a Kleeman Supercharger on the 4.3L V-8. You'll have 400+hp at a price tag lower than your conversion. You'll also have big AMG brakes, AMG body wear, and probably some goodies like HID lights, as I don't see many C43 cars without them.

You'll also have a car that you might be able to sell someday.

If you can live with two doors, a CLK430 or CLK55 is a great project platform too. A CLK55-"K" can make 500 ponies and run with the big bad Kompressor AMG dogs.

Check out the HP figures on the E430K project:
