w202 C280 coil packs / misfire
I took my 96 c280 in for what I suspected was a dead coil (running rough / on 4 cyclinders). One coil does need replacing, but they are recommending a replacement of all spark plugs, leads and all three coils for $990 based on the rationale that replacing only 1 coil will likely, within a month, overload and kill the other 2 anyway. Are they doing an excessive upsell, or does this sound reasonable to you guys?

1999 C280 Sport
This is the way Stealerships make sure to eliminate the problem. I had the same problem with my C280 sport (99) and bought a coil off line along with a set of wires (12) and did my own tune up Cost less than $200 for all. Wires were $120 from eBay and coil was $50+/- easy to replace.

I had the same issue, replacing the coil faulty is only required. they are clearly trying to rob you.
I too suggest you do it yourself, not like you're doing an engine loom _b

Thanks for that. I replaced one coil & then rather than misfiring in low revs, it started to misfire in high revs, so I replaced all 3 along with the leads. All fine now. Thank god for plug in & play items like these.

A good fable to remind us that the service department isn't always out to get one over on us. lol I would have ignored their suggestion too, but good to know they were legit.
