Our 1995 C36 ran 6.3 0-60's all day long without any drama. With some pretty stressful tranny loading and wheel-spin that didn't enagage the "off" portion of the ASR, we got a few 5.8/5.9 runs. That was on Michelin Pilot Sport street tires with only 22lbs pressure in the rears and LOTS of tranny abuse. Slicks would be no better, as you need the tires a little loose off the line to keep driveline momentum up. My wife did one (just one!) run where everything came together. The car launched hard with just enough spin to keep the ASR off but momentum really high. The car grabbed right at the sweet spot and really pulled down the line. Her 0-60 (mph, not feet) run was 5.5 sec and the quarter came up in 14.0 at 100.5 mph.

The real pleasure of the C36 came while moving. On the highway one day I roll-on killed a WRX. He was dealing with turbo lag and I was gooone. The look on the kid's face was priceless. Around town he would stomp the C36.

The only regret I have with the C36 was selling it to buy our lemon 1998 E300 turbo. At over 100K-miles, the C36 was tight, strong, and never had a single problem.
sounds like you will be looking for a C43 pretty soon That thing with the V8 is a beast...

Actually, my days of fast cars are over for a while. I sold my 911 Turbo to return to school. I am planning on quenching my need-for-speed by selling my dog slow Honda 750ACE and buying a Hayabusa.

The 190E's came and went as I was working on the road then, and put some huge miles on. All the 190E's were sold after short periods of ownership, but tons of miles. The 190E 2.3 was the ideal car for someone on the road. Cheap on gas and maintenance meant I made money on my mileage expense allowance. I bought the 1987 190E 2.3 with 88K on the odo for $11,000 and sold it with 330K on it for $8500. Repairs? None. Just routine fluids/filters/tires/brakes. No cheaper driving anywhere.

The 16V was a street/track car. Too much fun watching some guy in his Porsche freak out about being passed by some four-banger MB four door! It also had big miles piled on, being near 400K when I sold it. I know the current owners of all my old 190E's, and they're all over 500K now. Grille badges galore...

The Porsche was money pit. It was the last of the four speed cars, so it didn't have the G50 tranny, but was still fast. Electrical problems really hurt the pocketbook, and parts were hideously expensive. The engine was bulletproof, but required care and feeding that really added up. Thank goodness it actually appreciated. I sold it for more than I paid for it, but of course the gain didn't come close to all the money I'd spent on it, but was better than a big loss on the value end, too.

If I were to "go fast" with four wheels, I would snap up an early C43 and get some Kleeman under-hood pony pressure going. The 4.3L with the supe makes over 450hp. The W202 with close to 500hp would be one huckuva ride. I'd shave the AMG decals and put C280 badges on, just for fun. Find some M3 pilot and suck his lights out...

I've tracked my car several times. The engine is stock except for a cat back, which is good for maybe 2hp, and the best time I ran so far has been a 16.4 @88. That race was against a 2000 Prelude which ran about the same time. I did it with the stock wheels and 1/2 of gas.

The fastest 0 - 60 on a C36 was a '97 which did it in 5.8, same as a C43.
