proper way to end rattles...

1 Method Man/Redman Album "Blackout"
2 JL W6 12" woofers
1 Bandpass swapmeet box
2 PPI AMPS

now u can cruise in peace and not hear the rattles.

this works most of the time, except in between songs.

good luck.

I've had my C280 since 1995, not rattles, no squeaks, nice and tight, 88k miles and just as solid as it was when it was new. I'm up to Benz #5 and my 95 C280 is one of my favorites.

most likely the various subframe / contol arms etc bushings....wearing out over the years and making all those squicky sounds......nothing to worry about immediately, but if you like the car and wanna keep it....I'd recomment replacing them all with urethene bushings.....much better over the stock ones (in my opinion anyway)......

My highmount stoplamp rattles a lot. I'm too lazy to fix it. Maybe I'll go do that now. Thanks for reminding me. Where do I find these control arms? Mine are starting to squeak.

No outside squicks. The squicks I am talking about are from plastic rubbing against plastic. The doors seem to rattle also.

oh ok, I see.........in that case start with cleaning your car. (don't laugh, 90% of the time squeeks etc are cause by junk getting tossed around in the car ).....then continue by spraying WD40, or your favorite brand of lubricant to all the metal joints on doors etc......then go and check every trim item and every panel to make sure it's fascened correctly, if anything plastic is broken bring out he epoxy and let it have it.....
I had an annoying rattle in a previous car 89 735iL....was just on idle and I traced it to a loose cable inside the passanger door panel, which somehow lead to having to rebuilt the lock (long story... )
oh and btw, let us all know what happens...

Rattles

I experience a lot of rattles coming from my W202 additionally. Whenever I shift the car from Park to Reverse, the car makes a load noise and makes a jerking motion. Does anyone else experience this problem, and if so, what can be done about it. Could it be a problem with the transmission.

Thanks.

Control Arm Bushings

Go to Sears for a wheel alignment. Most of the time they will tell you you need new Control Arm Bushings (or ball joints) and point them out to you as they try to sell you a repair.

I took my C230 to Firestone, and said that they are not capable of doing Mercedes alignment. So, I ended up taking it to my Mercedes dealer. Before you get your car aligned, make sure they are capable of doing a Mercedes. I was lucky, I got a good and honest technician, who told me that they couldn't do it. Otherwise, they might have told me it was done. Make sure you clarify it with the place you are taking your car to.

MB Alignment

Great advice about making sure a place can do a MB wheel alignment!

I have a "lifetime alignemnt" for an 84 W-123 with Sears. Everytime I get an alignemt it seems that they want to make a sale by telling me I need something replaced. Event though they have had 20+ years to practice doing aligments on this model, some of their people still don't do a very good job.

I hope you realized my previous post was tongue-in-cheek.

same thing with me. Anytime someone sits in the front seat the seat belt would rub against the seat. The dealership's idea of a repair was to put a piece of fabric in between the belt and the seat, which held for a few hours and now I have the same problem.

found some the the rattles. Seatbelt at afore mentioned. The seatbelt height adjustment and rear view mirror. I discovered that outside air temp make the biggest difference. If it is hot i have almost to rattles. If it is around 65 I have a lot more rattles. Weird Huh?
