I need Help With My car
I have a 1995 Mecedes c-280. I need help figuring out what is going on with it. When im stopped at a stop light my entire car actually begins to shake. Also my exhaust is in severe need of changing. I want to put a more sporty sounding exaust because my current one is done and since im doing it anyway what would you guys recommend?

Have you checked for codes? How many miles? Engine and transmission mounts ok? Has the wiring harness been changed? What have you done in terms of troubleshooting the problem so far?
How good are you at fixing problems on this car? To be successful with owning one of these cars you have to be very resourceful, have above average technical skills or else have a well padded checkbook and you already said you don't have a big budget.

@w202mylove: The RPM's idle at about 600 when it is acting normal but when it begins to shake (its not a subtle shake it acts like a wild animal in a cage) The RPM's drop to 450 then jump to about 700.
@ledatptit: Well I changed my starter motor, tie rod assembly, wiper motor, entire emergency brake system, about to be changing the entire exhaust system because it is leaking pretty bad (too much work to just patch it up) I've also been doing a lot of body work. I'd say if I can find access to a lift(which I can) and find the problem I'll be able to fix it.

hm alright, 600 is normal btw. uhm have you tried to unplug the Maf? also could be the sensor at the cats is sending wrong information to the engine, maybe cats are broken? also could be the beginning of an old wiring harness dying. the strange thing about your problem is that you don't notice any problems while driving. could be so many things that cause this.
. could be maf/cats/even sparkplugs/wiring harness(most likely)/ wiring of the ETA (electronic throttle body). maybe it's the gearbox/torque converter? Wish I could help but this could be so many things, the m104 aint the easiest engine to work on.
very unlikely but yes, the sensors at your exhaust system might be sending wrong information to the engine due to bad Catalytic converters. First thing check/ maf. could be so many things, start a check list lol

, doesn't seem like there is any problem with the engine since you say it runs nice whili driving. I really would like to know what the problem is with your car, it breaks my head ;p you can always post you problem in the 202 amg section since there are many people with c36's wich is almost the same as the 280
Ok then the guy was weird and probably confused. I bought my car for $50 fixed it enough to pass a safety and e-test. Now I'm working out all the kinks because I love this car.
depends on where you buy it used or new, I'm not sure if it is the converter, ask an expert about this I only know about the engine
