changes between early 1998 and late 1998

I have a 1998 C230 manufactured 10/97(early). I found the brake rotors are the solid not the vented type. I was wondering what other surprises I'm going to find. Most parts applications show the vented type.

Thanks

Are you sure they are original and not replaced?

OEM

The pads are mercedes but I can't find any markings on the rotors. My best guess is they used up all the 1997 type rotors on early 1998 build models, then went to the later vented type. Just wondered if anyone had found other cases of this.
Thanks for the reply.

Oh by the way, I read the post between you(aquinob) and ptcruiser and enjoyed it very much. So much good information, some things I've found already, and other things I'm looking forward to.
Thanks again and keep the good info. flowing.

Curiosity makes me ask what post in particular.

owned by little old lady

It was the one about the 1998 C230 owned by the little old lady. The two of you went into somethings I had been into already, and things I have'nt yet.I am 66 yrs. old, kind of puts me in the middle of you all. I enjoy the hobby aspect of your repairs to a older, but deserving vehicle. I picked this model because I though it was one of the better, newer older models, if that makes any sense at all.I bought mine in 2010 with 87000 mi. and with a dash that looked like a xmas tree.(lights) went through them one by one. Its still a work in progress. A friend that lives near me has an upholstery shop, so he did the headliner($300.00) and I had it back in a couple of days. I kind of felt like I new you all, after reading your post. Retirement is soooo boring. HA HA
Looking forward to much more. Thanks

1998 C230

I order my wife's 1998 C230 in july 1997 the car arrived in Vancouver BC Sept 1997, and she still driving it and put on only 42000 km to it. For all these years (15 years) only two repairs total $800.00 other maintence just change oil/filter every 6 months.
It is very cheap to run this C230.

I have found that with the help from these forums, I have been able to fix almost every problem I've had. I also believe this model is as trouble free as they come.
