I am a new owner of a used C280, I was wonderin what you guys use to clean the silver on the bumpers and side moldings? Is there a recommended cleaner to use? Mine have stubborn water stains in some spots.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

Hello,

First of all, welcome to the forum. For these areas, I would use wax and buffing. There is also a special type of solution used to clean them. I forgot the name of it though.

However, try the detailing and cleaning section of MBWorld. It is very good, and you will find all the information there.

Good Luck,

I would advise purchasing some Meguiars paint cleaner, polish, and wax. After washing the car, go through the three step process and you'll be amazed at how great your car comes up.

After every two washings, I hit it with another coat of wax, and about every two months I do a polish and wax. I only use the paint cleaner about once a year.

This process works on the paint, chrome, anodized window trim, and even the alloy wheeels. I ususally also polish up my headlights and taillights with this stuff. Really helps to keep the car looking great.

Try white vinegar on the water spots first. Then go for the clay bar and lube to get the rest of the impurities off the surface. I'd do this before any kind of polishing to avoid removing uneven amounts of material.
