The Garage Helper was in Texas this weekend, so when she got back she came out to look at the work that I did on the headliner.

Here's a pic of my first attempt at a leather seam on re C Piller. Not too bad, still have to tuck the edges, but it turned out pretty good. The leather didn't want to wrap where the compound cure is, so I put a seam there. (well the garage helper did anyway)

Hey, I see that you removed the wood strip on top of the dash without removing the dash. How did you do that? Thanks!

you just pop off the passanger side corner, then pull the entire strip toward the passanger side. it just has a slide locking system on all but the last clip on the passanger side.

I knew you might have problems on the c-pillar, I know I did. Nice job. So are you covering all the pillars in leather to match the seats?

While you have the dash apart, did you check the operation of the vent door actuators? If you have the digital control for the HVAC, then you most likely have the pneumatic bellows that with age all start to leak causing the system to open and close them with changes in engine vacuum. Not the hardest thing to fix, especially if you have most of the dash torn apart in the first place.

I know for a fact that this car has that issue, and I planned on looking up the fix while it's apart. Do you happened to know if there is a writeup on the repair?

worked some more on the seats today. Got all the parts ripped apart so I can use them as patterns. Got the first panel made for the seat bottom.

Also started working on the sunroof shade. I'm not a fan of the louvers in the factory shade, so I decided to fill them with fiberglass before I wrap it with headliner material.

Amazing how something for free can end up costing a bundle.
Regardless, the end result is the reward, and it seems your doing a great job.
Hope to see it finished.

decided to brave the heat today and do some work on the car.

Got the oil pan out. Major PITA!

Removed the old water pump, had to drill the bottom front bolt out as it was striped, I'll never understand why they used hex bolts here, I hate hex bolts.

After dark I went inside and we started working on the upholstery some more. So the Garage Helper was doing 90% of this job.

Tracing the old seat parts..

Getting ready to cut the parts out (no turning back now)

I must have made a bad joke...

Okay, back to cutting

Trimming some of the pieces

Getting her sew on!

tested our French Stitching skills on some scrap material.

Got the middle piece of the seat bottom done, test fitting the sides, then we'll sew them on!

Installed the new water pump. Will start going back together with the engine soon since I got my parts back.
