keyless entry retrofit ?

Hi,
I drive a 94 C220. Is it possible to retrofit a keyless entry ?
Anybody knows a place in the GTA where this can be done ?
Any idea about the cost ?
Thank you

assuming u'r talking about a aftermarket alarm system with keyless entry, yes it is very possible. Your probably looking to spend anywhere between $250-$600. Most likely, probably what you want or are looking for is just a basic system with door triggers, shock sensors, keyless entry and kill start? That will probably be just around $300. Make sure you find a place that knows what they're doing, not just any shop you see. Bestbuy or Circuit City will do alarms on Benzes (most of them)...they have good selections.

Good brands would be Clifford, Viper (all these companies are subs of DEI electronics).

Hope this helps and good luck with your search.

Right now I have the infared keyless entry system. Is it possible to take that out and install an aftermarket system, with a better range?

Thanks!

I have the Viper 550 ESP, it's awesome. 1/2 mile range, remote starter, 5 stages of alarm levels, auxilary switch, chirps, everything. Got it for $400 installed.

ah, so what your saying is that you have the smart key ignition and alarm? If so, I know sometimes its difficult to mess with that system to take it out and such...maybe better off just keeping what you have because if you take it to a place that doesn't know what they're doing with the infrared system, it may leave u'r car disabled or whatnot...my opinion.

97 was the last year for the old style ignition key with the limited range IR remote. 98 was the introduction of both the Smart Key, the Flexible Service System and the V-6 C-280.

98 W-202
SmartKey uses an electronic code to unlock steering column and ignition without a mechanical key. Removing SmartKey from ignition disables engine computer to help prevent unauthorized starting of car.

Redundant-signal infrared/radio-frequency remote central locking with anticloning safeguard.

Flexible Service System displays distance to next oil change service based on actual driving conditions.
