Wont rev over 1,500 RPM

Hi

I have a problem with a C180, my partner was driving it and it just stopped whilst at a junction and the key would not turn when she tried to start it again, she was able to get a jump start and get it off the road into a side street but the car stopped again, when I got in from work I removed the battery and put it on charge, once charged I put it back on the car and was able to start the car and drove it home but the car seemed to be constantly missing and would not rev over 1500RPM, after crawling home in the car I contacted a friend who owns a Snap-on Solus, he came down and plugged it in but it could not communicate with the car. Anyone got any idea as to what the problem could be as I don't really want to pay Stealer prices to get this fixed. I have checked all fuses and all of them are fine, oh and the BAS/ESP light is showing permanently, no engine management light though.

Kind Regards

Derek

Sounds like your in "limp mode".
Do a search and see if it relates to your problem.

Thanks for your thoughts, I called the RAC out and they believe that it is the coil pack/s, they are relatively cheap so I'm going to change them and see if that resolves the issue.

One other thing that has been happening is that the battery is draining totally flat overnight, I have searched the forums and lots of people say it is down to the comfort control module for the electric seats however my car does not have electric seats, any other ideas as to what might be causing it?

Regards

Derek

I had a similar problem, and couldn't figure it out, until one night when I parked the car outside, and as you know the headlights stay on for a minute, and interior lights fade out.
I had to come back to the car, as I forgot something, and the interior light in the rear was still on, but the front one was off. That's how I found out why the battery was going flat.
I fixed it, and no more problem.
Just a thought

Hi

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would update it. I changed the coil packs and the car is still the same, rough idle and won't rev over 1500 rpm. It's been sitting in the backyard since it came off the road and now I really need to get it going again.

Anyone got any ideas?

Kind Regards

Derek
