just seeing if other people have this problem or is it just a New England thing with the crazy winters and salting up here.

But to answer your question, no. I don't have any bubling and I have never seen it on any other Mercedes before. I think you could actually sell your car for 2000 dollars, buy another C class and still be on top if you were to actually fix all the things that were wrong with yours.

yea, i bit the bullet and fixed the center link. most independent shops were reporting the same price, so i figured might as well have it done at the dealer.
as well as that stupid check engine light. my upshift delay was shot so they fixed that. regularly, it's like a $700 job, but they knocked off about 4 hours of labor, so they charged me 300 instead.
car is smooth and nice now
i'm planning just to drive it till it goes. i'm not gonna get much with that leak going on underneathe, but it seems like it has gotten better actually. not much oil in the morning anymore as compared to when it first started.

Did you check any independent shops to see how much to fix the leak. If you've already fixed the other stuff and that's all you have left mechanically wise, I'd go ahead and fix it if it isn't too expensive.

Paint bubbling
My neighbor has a 2000 C280 with bubbling. It is all pretty much in the same spot. Driver side rear quarter panel. He also had some spots on the door sills.
I have the same car, and have not seen any.
Cleveland winters are pretty harsh with a lot of salt on the roads and he doesn't wash his car nearly as much as I was mine.

my 97 c230 paint job is complete crap!! clearcoat peeling in many places; rear panels, hood, trunk, doors. i swear its something from the factory, a defect or something. i have had similar cars in same situations equaling no paint problems! explain that one.

actually now, the leak has slowed down a lot. in the morning, it doesn't leave as much anymore...wondering if it's starting to kinda seal itself (like crusting around the leak or something)...
