1995 C280 Check engine light
I recently purchased a 1995 C280 and after a few days, the "Check engine " light came on. It runs very well with no problem, so I reset the light by taking off the negative cable on the battery. I then had it smogged with no problem at all. Now the light comes back on every 5 days or so and stays on unless I do the reset. Is it possible that there is still some problem with the engine.? It still runs very nice with no apparant problem. I went to Autozone and O'Reilys but they say that a 1995 uses an older OBS (?) and they are unable to check it for errors. Any help is greatly appreciated.

go back to Autozone and have them hook up the scanner. All W202 here in the states are OBDII Compliant. mercedes got ahead of the regulation mandating the standard platform in 1996
