Spark plugs
hey all,
Maybe a dumb question, but where are the spark plugs under the hood? i've always been curious to see where it's located...items you can replace yourself?
What's the advantage to replacing them? Thanks for fueling my curiosity!

GDawg,
You have better luck at club202 for this kind of questions!
Anyhow, the cover in the middle of your engine head is held down by 4 allen bolts. Unbolt those, and you'll see 4 sparkplug wires.

Gdog, When is the last time you changed your plugs? I would change them about every 40k. If your spark plugs are bad, you could be getting poor miles per gallon, shaky starts...just in general the car doesn't run as well. I changed mine a little bit ago and it was pretty simple. Gluck man.

Did you change them yourself? if so, would you mind providing some details as how you did it? Thanks for your help.

My brother actually installed them, I didnt look too much at what he was doing, but I remember him removing a portion of the intake(obviously) because it covers the spark plug cover. When I get a chance...I'll ask him in full details and let you know.

Gdog, Well my brother just said it was pretty straightforward. Remove the intake piece that covers the engine and then remove the spark plug cover. Then there are two coils for the 4 spark plugs. Just unscrew the coils and move them to the side so you have access to the spark plug. Remove the plugs, install the new plugs. Just tighten them so they are nice and snug....you don't need to tighten them like crzy. Just nice and snug...but not too loose either. Then install the coils, cover and intake piece and your set. gluck.
