How much to repair cracked rear bumper

Sadly, you don't live where I do, but some dufas scratched my bumper (it was me actually backing up and hitting a hidden rock).
The shop pulled the bumper off, so I could still drive the car, repaired the damage, repainted it perfectly (2 colors) reinstalled it, and it cost me $35.00.
I bought my daughter a new Kia in Canada, and she backed into a garbage bin. They wanted $800.00 to remove and paint.
My reply to the shop was "stuff it"
Makes you wonder how badly we get screwed over living in one place or another.

if you remove the bumper yourself, and take it in to a shop it will run about 300-500 fixed/painted, then you would reinstall it yourself...you could probably find a replacement for that much on ebay.....
