Rough idle and engine surges
Hi all,
So I have been noticing when I start my 1997 C36 (128,000 km) cold in the morning it idles at around 800RPM and after it warms up it moves to about 600RPM. This is my first MB so I am not sure what the standard idle levels are but that seems fairly normal for a straight 6. The issue is once and a while, when the car is rolling to a stop it lurches slightly and the RPM's jump a bit. Anyone had a similar issue? Any info would be appreciated.

Nothing to really worry about. It is a common issue on some W202's - a hard down shift whilst coming to a stop.
Some had re-programmes at the dealership when under warranty but as far as I know, it never sorted the problem. Some do, some don't.
