1999 C280 hard shift 1-2, 2-3rd
hi all,
my father-in-law has a 1999 C280 with 140k miles and recently he experienced VERY HARD shift for 1-2 and 2-3 gears(he didn't go beyond that). he took it to a solid indep MB guy(who was top mechanic at MB dealer), but they couldn't duplicate the issue, so he got the car back and it hasn't happened since.
do you guys think this is a transmission fluid and/or filter issue?
i told him to just wait to see if it would happen again, but wondered everyone's thoughts and whether it's a good idea just to change fluid etc... just to be safe?

As it's hard to understand VERY HARD shift unless your there, check the transmission mount first, and then possible the trans valve body, which can be inspected on a fluid change.
If it hasn't happened again, maybe it was a once in a lifetime glitch that has gone away?
