reason for stalling?

i have a thought on why maybe I stalled last week (my "Scariest ride" post)...could some water have gotten into the gas from the freezing cold temps? I just heard it on the news and lots of cars were stalling because from the extremely cold weather in MA these past few days (today's high was 5 degrees, with -5 for a few hours in the morning) was causing water to form in the gas tanks and stall the car...

just a thought.

nope, water gets in from contaminated gas.... even then it shouldn't get through the filter... if water got into the engine the injectors would had fouled up... causing much more problem... when was the last time you checked your plugs, ignition wires or fuel filter....? cold weather affects the electrical components especially if the're old...
p.s m/b tanks are pressurized... moisture can't easily get ino them, as with older cars or other brands...

Right but any water in the gas tank will freeze easily and block the fuel system. Water is denser than fuel and sinks to the bottom where it is picked up by the fuel pump. Most FI systems have one coarse filter before the pump and a much finer one before the injectors. Moisture will get trapped in the fine filter, freeze and starve the engine.

exactly, that's why I don't think his stall was caused by that b/c he was able to restart right after.... more like a misfire b/c of the cold...
