Audio Question

On my 1998 c230, I have a tape deck with no cd changer. So do you guys think I should buy a cd player or go with the changer? I am a little undecided. Somebody persuade me one way or the other. And how much would a changer be(non fiber optic) and what changer or decks do you recommend. I am looking to spend about 300 bucks. Thanks.

i bought the alpine unit (forget what model) i think with the adaptor it was 300. the unit was great 6 cd changer and played cdr's flawlessly. i NEVER had a skip one time in that car and i live in NJ AKA: pot hole city. i did the changer route because i hate the way after market head units look in MB cars. i am a bit particular though? so i hope that helps. btw: I did the canger to both of my c class cars.

I did the alpine changer just because I hate fooling around with cds while driving. It works very well.

So I'm guessing alpine cd players are the way to go. What do you guys think about this

1998 had fiber optic. You need the ole fashioned copper wire type.

for $300 you can get an m/b non fiber optic changer from ebay... or an alpine s630 6-cd changer and adaptor cable for considerably less... look on ebay

I thought 1998 c230 were nonfiber optic. How can I check to see if its fiber optic or not? And also with the alpine cd player...would the cd button located on the stock tape deck work with the alpine or would there be a separate little cd controller?
