The car I am selling is a 1996 C280 (W202) with very low mileage. The actual mileage is 45,633. This automobile is in very close to new condition. This represents a fairly rare opportunity to buy a like-new W202. I purchased the car in September 2011 with 13,800 miles on it. I am the second owner.

VIN: WDB2020281F449984

Background: The car was purchased by an 90 pound, 80-year old lady in Scarsdale, NY. The date on the invoice is July 19, 1996. The price of the car was $37,634.90.

Every year she had the car inspected and serviced at the MB dealer in White Plains. A few repairs were made. Everything is documented with original receipts.

From 1996 to 2011, it ran a total of 13,800 miles. Since then it’s run about 8,000 miles a year.

It was always garaged. It has never been driven on salty roads as the original owner never went out in the snow, and I use our C320 4-matic in the winter. Last winter I put on snow tires, but only drove it a few miles. W202’s are not great in snow, but the snow tires helped a lot.

Condition: Pretty much like new. Everything works.

The paint is excellent. No rust anywhere at all. Had two very minor impacts on the fenders that were expertly repaired.

The glass is like new. The windshield is perfect.

The interior is great, but the headliner is showing some sagging. And the sunroof headliner however is wrinkled a bit. It is a non-smoker car.

All seats are like new.

All doors close with a bank vault thud. The rubber is perfect around the doors and other openings.

The engine is smooth and quiet. It revs easily and smoothly. At cruising speed, the water temperature is right on 80.

Transmission shifts are crisp and smooth.

Brakes are very smooth and non-fading.

Highway mileage at 75 mph is a solid 27 mpg. Around town about 20.

The radio with retractable antenna works great with the Bose system. Sound is very good. The cassette deck works great. And also has a CD changer in the trunk.

The heating and air conditioning system is the automatic type. Just put the temperature you want and the system does the rest. In the winter, I have never had a car get warm in the cabin as quickly as this one, and in the summer, the air conditioning is icy.

Service & Repairs - The cars is up to date on service. The engine oil has been changed with AMS Oil European Formula with a Mann Oil Filter. Engine air filter and Cabin air filter are recent.

Comes with: Complete tool kit. Owners manual and its original case. Original CD-changer. Two spare wheels mounted with snow tires – one season, 800 miles. Two remote entry fobs. Winter interior mats. Spare Hirshmann antenna.

I will be happy to provide a full photo album, and service records.

Asking $7,500. PM me.

Fifteen days, and 158 views, and not even one reply. Clearly, I am barking up the wrong tree. Fine with me. I love driving this car.

Did you ever consider the price your asking may be too high?
I bought a 1998 in Florida with 41000 miles for $4200.00.
All it needed was tires and alignment.

I based my price on what I think the car is worth. The fact that I had no contact at all is interesting. No suggestion of a lower price at all. Seems that when it comes to W202's most people accept high mileage and in return are willing to pay a very low price.

You did well to buy yours in the conditions you did.

I know where your coming from. I think they are worth more, but it's what the market is.
A 2007 C230 Sport with 74,000 miles just sold on Ebay 2 days ago for $7200.00
Mint condition. Car Fax confirmed it.
That's what your looking at as far as competition is concerned.
The reason your not getting responses is probably the price. Best bet is to keep it.
People on the site are generally knowledgeable when it comes to prices.
Good luck
