PMS Ignition Control Unit 0185451132 Problem?

I own 1996 c200 (4 cyl.) Automatic. Car drove 130,000 Km and it's well kept.
Symptom: Recently I encountered a problem of engine does not start.

Usually when everything is OK when the key is in the switch at Position 1 the fuel pump makes a short noise (buzzing) while pumping for the initial start. Now when I have this problem of the engine is 'refusing' to start, this initial noise does not appear. My mechanic says it is the Ignition Module (part # 018 545 11 32) that manages the fuel pump, he 'fixed' it but the problem continues..

Today when it happened I disconnected the wiring from the module and reconnect it and everything got back to normal... what the heck should I do?!

could it be different problem?

tnx.

I know this is old, however there is no MB part number 018 545 11 32 for an ignition module------and as you have learned the drive authorization system is complicated with many interconnected relays and modules that make the job of diagnosing a problem very difficult without the correct diagnostic equipment and experience---I would ask what did he(mechanic) actuall replace and was it new or did he find the part in the employee lunch room!!

The code will lead you to the PMS ECU.

So the thing is that MB had a crappy wiring harness during 91-96. They called it 'Biodegradable' for environment reasons.. But they didn't realize it will biodegraded while still plugged o the vehicles.
I must be experiencing wiring connecting issues which affects the PMS..
This wiring harness is tons of money..
